The flywheel ring gear is a genuine Yuchai engine part, part number 188-1005062. It is fitted around the flywheel and is turned by the starter motor pinion to crank the engine. Grinding on start-up or the starter spinning without turning the engine often indicate worn or broken teeth. The starter pinion should also be checked when the ring gear is replaced.
