Retarder (Telma) for Bus

The Telma retarder is an electromagnetic auxiliary braking unit fitted in the driveline. It slows the bus without friction, reducing heat and wear in the service brakes. Loss of retarding effect, noise or damage to coils or rotors are typical reasons to replace the unit. Retarders are especially useful on hill-country routes.
