The valve guide is a genuine Yuchai engine part, part number L3000-1003172A-P. It is pressed into the cylinder head and guides the valve stem so the valve seats squarely. Worn guides can cause oil consumption, smoke and poor valve sealing. They are usually renewed during a cylinder head overhaul together with valve seals.
